We are basically a nation of good hard working honest people and we seem, on an individual basis, to have a good sense of right and wrong, fairness, and justice. However, we are also a nation that is a bit lazy at finding out the truth and we are, on a geopolitical level, a little under-informed and somewhat clueless. However, in fairness, this may not necessarily be totally to blame on our indolence and indifference. Those traits may be accurate, but are they purposely cultivated by the PTW (Powers that were).
Each year, “Reporters Without Borders” issues a worldwide ranking of nations based on the extent to which they protect or abridge press freedom. The group’s 2015 ranking was released this morning, and the United States is ranked 49th.
That is the lowest ranking ever during the Obama presidency, and the second-lowest ranking for the U.S. since the rankings began in 2002 (in 2006, under Bush, the U.S. was ranked 53rd). The countries immediately ahead of the U.S. are Malta, Niger, Burkino Faso, El Salvador, Tonga, Chile and Botswana.
Some of the U.S.’s closest allies fared even worse, including Saudi Arabia (164), Bahrain (163), Egypt (158), the UAE (120), and Israel (101: “In the West Bank, the Israeli security forces deliberately fired rubber bullets and teargas at Palestinian journalists”; 15 journalists were killed during Israeli attack on Gaza; and “the authorities also stepped up control of program content on their own TV stations during the offensive, banning a spot made by the Israeli NGO B’Tselem that cited the names of 150 children who had been killed in the Gaza Strip”).
To explain the latest drop for the U.S., the press group cited the U.S. government’s persecution of New York Times reporter Jim Risen, as well as the fact that the U.S. “continues its war on information in others, such as WikiLeaks.” Also cited were the numerous arrests of journalists covering the police protests in Ferguson, Missouri (which included The Intercept‘s Ryan Devereaux, who was tear-gassed and shot with a rubber bullet prior to his arrest).
It should come as no surprise that the U.S. continues to plummet in press freedoms under Obama. In October, 2013, the Committee to Protect Freedom issued a scathing denunciation of the U.S. government’s attacks on press freedoms, the first time the U.S. was ever the subject of one of its reports. Written by former Washington Post executive editor Leonard Downie, Jr., it detailed the multiple ways the Obama administration has eroded press freedoms, and concluded:
“The administration’s war on leaks and other efforts to control information are the most aggressive I’ve seen since the Nixon administration, when I was one of the editors involved in The Washington Post’s investigation of Watergate. The 30 experienced Washington journalists at a variety of news organizations whom I interviewed for this report could not remember any precedent.”
That warning echoed the one previously issued by James Goodale, the General Counsel of the New York Times during the Pentagon Papers battle, who said: “President Obama wants to criminalize the reporting of national security information” and “President Obama will surely pass President Richard Nixon as the worst president ever on issues of national security and press freedom.”
This is also demonstrated by the attack on alternative news sources at various websites and blogs. It is unfortunate that the country known for its freedom of expression and the press is in fact not even in the top 50 countries in the world for just exactly those freedoms.
The question we have to ask ourselves is why? What is it that is so feared that it requires our government to be so aggressive in preventing the truth from penetrating our MSM? Well the answer is really fairly simple and it is money and power. When we have just six corporations controlling 96% of all media outlets we get ONLY what the PTW wants us to think and believe.
There are realities and truths out there, that if known by a majority of Americans, would infuriate us and we would be demanding answers. Maybe that is why there is dialogue from the government like anyone talking conspiracies are really terrorists? Really?
A recent well publicized issue, for example, has to do with vaccines. We have heard one side of the story in MSM that vaccines are both safe and effective. Is that really the truth? William Thompson, CDC whistleblower, has been given immunity from prosecution, by the federal government, to testify before Congress about vaccine fraud at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
On Aug. 27, 2014, Thompson, a long-time researcher at the CDC, published a statement through his lawyer, Rick Morgan, admitting that he and colleagues at the CDC violated the protocol in a study on the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine’s connection to autism. The study, which was published in the Journal of Pediatrics in 2004, exonerated the vaccine. However, the study omitted vital data on a group of black babies who showed an increased risk for autism after receiving the MMR vaccine. Since releasing his Aug. 27 statement, Thompson has maintained silence and has refused to talk to reporters. And just recently, Italian courts have ruled that there is a definitive link between vaccines and autism, awarding a family a huge sum for what was determined to be autism induced in their son by vaccination.
So think about this.. The renaissance in the vaccine market continues with strong growth and new prospects to continue to grow this part of the market, which now stands at about $25 billion. Once a commodity market with low margins, the vaccines on the market now include blockbusters and megablockbusters. New candidates for vaccinating against cancers and HIV are also projected to hit the magic milestone. The market is expected to return a compound annual growth rate of more than 8% through 2018, EvaluatePharma projects, with some segments like adult vaccines showing even better.
So here is a real example of the MSM being complicit in not revealing the truth in an important health issue. What is the truth? Are vaccines safe and effective or are there risks we should really be concerned about? The answers to some of the questions seem in fact to contradict what the PTW are saying. For example, the hidden research seems to indicate that the rate of autism is much higher in infants vaccinated under 30 months of age. The hidden information also seems to indicate that the MMR vaccine might not be as effective as advertised and that it is “doctored” with antibodies to make it appear effective. That would seem to be real concerns since 48 of the 110 measles cases in the US so far are in adults WHO WERE VACCINATED.
The Centers for Disease Control issued an alarming report: 1 in 88 US children are afflicted with autism. On March 29, 2012, the US Centers for Disease Control reported startling evidence: the number of children diagnosed with autism in the United States increased 25% between 2006 and 2008. The autism rate jumped from 1 in 100 (2006) to 1 in 88 children (2008). The autism rate is even higher for boys: one in 54 compared to girls, one in 252. Given these numbers, we need to understand why that the rate of autism in northeastern Ohio, the largest Amish community in the USA with low rates of vaccination, was 1 in 10,000.
Freedom of the press, real journalism, real reporting is really the fifth column of democracy. We need to wake up and start demanding truth and depth in our MSM. We suspect many more revelations to unfold over the next several months, real truths that will shock you to your core. What we need to understand as these revelations surface is to 1). Do not over react and 2). It is partially our own fault we didn’t know.
Welcome to the beginning of real DISCLOSURE.
