MSM and the “Swine Flu”

I don’t know about you, but I am getting the feeling that the government and MSM are at it once again trying to downplay a crisis.  We have seen this pattern after 911, concerning Afghanistan, the world financial crisis and now this potential flu pandemic.  Therefore, even though I don’t know or even care how many people might be reading my blog, I thought it necessary to pass on some information.  I do have a medical background and I know a bit about the subject.  The most important issues are to be informed and be prepared.

First is the issue of calling this current situation “Swine Flu”.  From what we know, that is simply not the case.  It seems that this flu strain is a mix of Swine flu, Avian flu, and H1N1 strains.  See this Reuters article.

If that is the case, then this is serious evidence that this could be a genetically engineered virus and that means we amy not have any precedent on how this current pandemic could unfold.  My friend George over at worked out a possible scenario against a typical pandemic like the 1918 Swine flu and came up with this chart:

In this case it is track 2 that we may be facing.  As you can see it much more robust than the typical flu outbreak.  The early indications on how rapidly this is spreading and the virulent nature so far indicate George may not be far off the mark.

With all of that said, there are a lot of things you can do to prepare yourself and to avoid this situation.  there is no need to panic or be fearful.  Just be prepared and take actions promptly if confronted with the possibility of infection.

1). Avoid all unnecessary travel.

2). Avoid congregating in large crowds, forget the PTA meeting

3). Seek medical help at the first sign of symptoms, such as fever, malaise, or cough and congestion

4). Do everything you to boost your immune system. (eat well, sleep well, take vitamin C, drink plenty of fluids everyday, etc.)

5). If you or someone in your family does contact the virus, seek medical help sooner rather than later and do everything you can to isolate yourself or them from contact.  OSHA has a quickcard that provides guidance.  See Below:

According to the World Health Organization, we are in a phase 4 situation globally.  the WHO defines phase 4 as:

“Phase 4 is characterized by verified human-to-human transmission of an animal or human-animal influenza reassortant virus able to cause “community-level outbreaks.” The ability to cause sustained disease outbreaks in a community marks a significant upwards shift in the risk for a pandemic. Any country that suspects or has verified such an event should urgently consult with WHO so that the situation can be jointly assessed and a decision made by the affected country if implementation of a rapid pandemic containment operation is warranted. Phase 4 indicates a significant increase in risk of a pandemic but does not necessarily mean that a pandemic is a forgone conclusion. ”

There are 6 phases to their status of a pandemic as graphical represented below:

I hope this information is helpful. Don’t be fearful, be prepared.  Do be lazy, ACT appropiately when needed.  Be prepared to help yourself.  If we all do this we will get through this just fine.

I can’t get no satisfaction

Almost everyone I talk with these days, young or old, all express a desire to find something they feel is elusive and unobtainable. Contentment.  Contentment is defined as the neuro-physiological experience of satisfaction and being at ease in one’s situation, bodymind (cf. John Money), body, and/or mind.

The Historical Philosophy of Contentment or Complacency

Some of the earliest references to the state of contentment are found in the reference to the middah (personal attribute) of Samayach B’Chelko. The expression comes from the word samayach (root Sin-Mem-Chet) meaning “happiness, joy or contentment”, and chelko (root Chet-Lamed-Kuf) meaning “portion, lot, or piece”, and combined mean contentment with one’s lot in life. The attribute is referred to in the Mishnahic source which says

“Ben Zoma said: Who is rich? Those who are happy with their portion.”

The origins of contentment in Jewish culture reflect an even older thinking reflected in the Book of Proverbs which says,

A joyful heart makes a cheerful face; A sad heart makes a despondent mood. All the days of a poor person are wretched, but contentment is a feast without end.

The issue of contentment remained in Jewish thinking during the Middle Ages as evident for example in the writings of Solomon Ibn Gabirol, an eleventh-century Spanish poet-philosopher who taught,

Who seeks more than he needs, hinders himself from enjoying what he has. Seek what you need and give up what you need not. For in giving up what you don’t need, you’ll learn what you really do need.

In Yoga (Yoga Sutras of Patanjali), movement or positions, breathing practices, and concentration, as well as the yamas and niyamas, can contribute to a physical state of contentment (santosha).

In a Buddhist sense, it is the freedom from anxiety, want or need. Contentment is the goal behind all goals because once achieved there is nothing to seek until it is lost. A living system cannot maintain contentment for very long as complete balance and harmony of forces means death. Living systems are a complex dance of forces which find a stability far from balance. Any attainment of balance is quickly met by rising pain which ends the momentary experience of satisfaction or contentment achieved. Buddha‘s task was to find the solution to this never ending descent into dissatisfaction or Dukkha. The Buddhist faith is based on the belief that he succeeded.

Most religions have some form of eternal bliss or heaven as their apparent goal often contrasted with eternal torment or dis-satisfactions. The source of all mentally created dis-satisfactions appears to stem from the ability to compare and contrast experiences and find reality as one is living it to be less than ideal. The solution is to seek out ways to either make experienced reality conform to the ideal or to lower expectations to the level of the experienced. When one can live in the moment with expectations in harmony with experiences one has achieved the greatest mental contentment possible. Variants of this pursuit are found in all religions and manifest in many forms of meditation and prayerful devotions.

The American philosopher, Robert Bruce Raup wrote a book Complacency:The Foundation of Human Behavior (1925) in which he claimed that the human need for complacency (i.e. inner tranquility) was the hidden spring of human behavior. Dr. Raup made this the basis of his pedagogical theory, which he later used in his severe criticisms of the American Education system of the 1930s.

Personally, I think the real comtemporary issues preventing us from experiencing even a few moments of satisfaction relate to the fact we have been programmed to think we need too many things.  this gadget, these clothes, this house, etc.  The drive for “these things” has created two issues as I see it.  One is that those who can get it, get it and those who are in a position not to get it, don’t and their chances lessen each time those who can get it, get it.

Why don’t we all just ask ourselves one question.  “What do I really need?”  I know from personal experience that as soon as I did that life got a lot more simple.  When life gets more simple, satisfaction has a chance to bloom.  Therefore assessing REAL needs can create simplicity and simplicity is the garden where satisfaction can grow.  Just a thought I felt like sharing with you.

How the Universe creates and our role in that process

More and more information in both the scientific (read quantum physics and astrophysics here) and the metaphysical disciplines suggest that we somehow participate in creating our reality by just thinking about it or how we communicate our emotions.  For example, physicists looking at quantum experiments have very well documented that the mere act of observing the experiment has a direct effect on the observed result.

In the highest levels of practiced yoga or meditation, the adept can alter the physical reality around them by control of energy flows.  Also check out John Chang on youtube.  So there is something to the energy that is a part of everything including us and it is the stuff of universal reality.

So in fact, are we living in a hologram of energy and it is us that creates the now and determines the future.  It seems more and more to be the case.  If we assume for the moment that is case, then our future needs only to be determined by us today.  When I look around I am overwhelmed by the aggressive, disconnected way we relate to one another, in our families and with the rest of the world.  The greed, the wars, the enslavement of others by the powerful.  Let us all take a moment each day to visual a world of peace, a world of caring for each other, a world where we gently nurture our youth, and kindly care for those less fortunate or infirmed by disease or old age.  Just a minute each day to think in this way.  Hey it may not help, but it certainly can’t hurt either.

The Collective Conscious and The New Bogeyman

I( started this blog because I believe we collectively know exactly what is occurring in our present and we intuitively have a collective sense of our near future. I am hoping that eventually this site will become a place to share our thoughts and hopefully a consensus view of where we are going will emerge. I may be a bit niave but I am also optimistic.

There are a number of sites devoted to these times and there does seem to be an “awakening of sorts” and I can certainly attest to my level of awareness of a more macro view of the world and the events in it seems to be accelerating.

Here is an interesting bit of info that showed up on Treehugger. There’s a new bogeyman lurking in the closet, and this one isn’t imaginary. Us. One out of three children aged 6 to 11 fears that Ma Earth won’t exist when they grow up, while more than half—56 percent—worry that the planet will be a blasted heath (or at least a very unpleasant place to live), according to a new survey.

Commissioned by Habitat Heroes and conducted by Opinion Research, the telephone survey polled a national sample of 500 American preteens—250 males and 250 females.

On a sliding scale of anxieties, minority kids have it worst; 75 percent of black children and 65 percent of Hispanic children believe that the planet will be irrevocably damaged by the time they reach adulthood.

Interestingly enough, kids vex over the state of the planet, especially when it came to safe and clean air and water, regardless of any pro-environmental measures on the part of their parents. A staggering 95 percent of the children surveyed said their parents pitched in by recycling, using rechargeable batteries, and conserving water and electricity.

“We commissioned the survey as a result of my own childrens’ experiences with the recent fires in Australia as they expressed much concern for both their safety and the planet’s,” said Sharon Lowe, founder of Habitat Heroes, in a press release. “While it is upsetting to hear how many children in the United States have expressed similar concerns, I am more committed than ever to help educate children around the globe in a way that is not scary to them.”

Other interesting findings

* 50 percent say that hurricanes and tornadoes are the natural disasters that scare them the most.

* 28 percent say that they fear animals, such as polar bears and penguins, will become extinct and disappear from the planet more than any other environmental concern.

Girls worry more

* 67 percent of girls ages 9-11 versus 60 percent of boys ages 9-11 worry that the earth won’t be as good a place to live when they’re adults.

* 57% of girls ages 6-8 versus 43 percent of boys ages 6-8 worry that the earth won’t be as good a place to live when they’re adults.

Urban kids are more anxious than suburban kids

* 59 percent of kids in metro areas are more concerned that the Earth won’t be as good a place to live when they grow up compared to non-metro kids (47 percent).

Since they are the newest souls incarnate, I find this very interesting and somewhat disturbing, especially the large percentage of children that feel this way. If they do not possess “genetic knowledge” then their feelings are reflective of their brief experiences with Us, so what are we saying. I believe that the universe favors life, not destruction. I believe that the universe operates on creation, not devastation. I believe that our future is a construct of our collective will in the Now. So what are we doing? Why are we doing it? Come on! I know you are out there, let’s start talking. As always off world citizens are also encouraged to join in!

All Things Alien

I continue to think out loud.  When looking at the probabilities that we have been “visited” by off world civilizations seems interesting to me.  One has to consider that an attempt to discuss such a matter could easily brand you as a kook and that  in itself seems to be an interesting collective response.  I wonder if our ego collectively is so fragile that we don’t want to consider such a notion, or is it there is a concerted disinformation effort afoot that tries to squash such dialogue.  I think both elements are present.

First, I try to approach this question as rationally as I can.  First the math.  There is approximately 100 Billion stars in our galaxy and there are approximately 100 billion galaxies that we are aware of in the universe.  what are the chances we are the only intelligent sentient beings.  Well from that perspective one must conclude there is at least the mathematical probability there could be several million civilizations out there.

Next is the issue of distance required to travel for there to be interaction between these civilizations.  Current conventional wisdom postulates that travel through space faster than the speed of light is not possible thereby making vacations to other solar systems..shall we say problematical.  OK our probability factor just dropped 10 points.  However, recent thoughts in quantum physics suggests that that CW may not necessarily apply in relationship to how time and space interact.  Sooo we have to continue to understand that element more.  Anybody out there has some comments on this element I am all ears.

What do we know or think and when did we come to know it.  When one does research on the internet on such things, we are confronted with the possibilities that we are in fact, the genetic products of off world characters who played around with us like lab rats.  There are a number of archiac records that seem to support this, at least in legend.  The Sumerians wrote about the Nephilim, the Aborigines speak of star people, the Hopi talk of star people, there seems to be graphical evidence in Mayan, Aztec, and Egyptian structures and tablets, and finally even in old testament manuscripts, there are some let’s say unusual references that would suggest the we collectively have been aware of some off world interference or presence.  Again I would welcome comment.

The more contemporary urban legends deal obviously with Roswell and the events forward from that point.  There are somewhat credible people coming forward claiming to have been involved in active programs and interactions with off world neighbors.  Sites such as Project Camelot or Eagles Disobey are at least good reading.  So if you have some thoughts for me or you are an off world visitor who would like to clear the air, please gives us your comments.

Myself, I am sitting on the fence with this one.  All of the so called sightings could be our own secret advanced technology and I haven’t personally met any off world folks that at least I am aware of.  But truth be told, I want to believe.  Let talk some more about this.

The economy, geopolitics, and the environment. Are they linked?

It seems that the impossible scenarios are the ones playing out.  Is it just me or does that seem some what unlikely, yet it is happening.  Who would have 18 months ago in MSM predicted the world’s current economic situation?  Who would’ve 24 months ago predicted America electing its first black president?  Who would have in the scientific community predicted the most calmest period in sun activity in nearly 100 hundred years?  One can browse the internet and see all manner of explainations.  Aliens, 2012, pole shifts, and things even more bizzare.

Some how though I believe WE collectively know and understand what is going on.  Experiments in linguistics such as being conducted by seem to be fairly accurate in the short term (3-18 months).  I hope this feeble attampt may generate some dialog and collectively provide us all with some insight.  Got milk?

Things are achangin’

We all have a sense of change everywhere in the world. Changes in the economy, changes in the environment, changes in our global social structures. But what is the real nature of those changes? What is driving them? We are going from where to where and why? I am starting this blog to see basically who is listening, who is awake and what can I learn from those individuals and what can I share with them. My obvious strengths are related to environment and the middle east, but I am sure my view is quite myopic at the moment. so hopefully we can all learn more of how we are responding on a macroconscious level as I sense we collectively really know what is going on and how we should respond. So Hello world, what’s up?
